Look Out – Orientation Underway
This coming week will see two of the Polytechnic's most popular daytime events as part of StudentCard Orientation 2003. The Burger King Eating Competition (Tuesday 18 Feb, 12 noon, Student Centre, Harbour Tce.) and the Pizza Hut Scarfie Triathlon (Thursday 20 Feb, 12 noon, Student Centre, Harbour Tce.).
The Burger King Eating Competition is OPSA's traditional orientation competition being held for more years than OPSA can remember. It usually consists of several heats and a final for the grand prize. Contestants simply eat their way through several plates of food quicker than the others to win - without using their hands! This year's winner will take away a semesters worth of Burger King, though probably won't feel like cashing it in for a while.
The Pizza Hut Scarfie Triathlon is a new event bound to be very popular. While the exact three 'events' of the triathlon are currently secret they are rumoured to involve some pie eating, a bit of beer drinking, and a sorting task. The overall winner will take away a semesters worth of Pizza Hut.
OPSA's StudentCard Orientation also includes other
free entry events including performers Monkey Knife Fight,
Luke Hurley, Francissca Griffin, The Patsys, Galu Pasifika,
and MP Metiria Turei.
