Curriculum = Mind Control
"Calls from the Maxim Institute for a curriculum re-write show that Maxim are more interested in pushing their religious ideology than they are in promoting a decent education system," Peter Osborne, the Libertarianz Spokesman to Deregulate Education, said today.
Osborne's comments are in response to a new book 'Vying for Our Children' by Paul Henderson, released today by the Maxim Institute.
"This kind of tripe is a common attitude," says Osborne. "It doesn't seem to matter which political or religious philosophy these people have, they all think that theirs is the answer to our education woes - and they all think that this gives them licence to force their ideology on everyone else's children."
"The various political parties are just the same, the only difference being that politicians view education as a very useful political tool. The damage that this attitude has had on society is immeasurable. When will it end?" Osborne asks.
"It cannot be emphasised enough. This system is ruining lives. It is filling the young minds of New Zealand with other people's clouded views, even as it removes parental control over educational choice."
"If new Zealanders are to move ahead intellectually, and even spiritually, it is vital that the state is removed from the education sector completely. Pressure groups such as the Maxim Institute should remain free to set up their ideal school system, but NOT with tax-victims' money. If their ideals have any merit, then they will thrive in a competitive and free educational market. This way parents would have full control and choice over their children's education."
Osborne says that Libertarianz have no desire to involve themselves in other people's lives. "In fact, we understand completely the damage that the interference mentality of the state, amongst others, has caused our young minds. We are only concerned with freeing New Zealand from the shackles of the state, and from any other two-bit force freak who wishes to force their views on everyone else."
Osborne concludes, "I would suggest that anyone who is interested in seeking further clarification of a truly free society read our proposed constitution for New Freeland. This can be found on our website."
