QPEC 2004 AGM

QPEC 2004 AGM

Our 2004 AGM is to be held at –

St Columba Centre, Vermont Street, Ponsonby, Auckland

Saturday 24th April, 10am to 3pm

We will be beginning this year with a public forum to be followed by the formal AGM. Everyone welcome to all sessions.

The timetable will run as follows –

9.30 Tea/Coffee

10.00 Public Forum “How important is the Social Context in which Education takes place today?”

(3 presenters with questions and discussion to follow)

• Liz Gordon – ex Alliance MP – will present recent research on poverty in NZ

• Anna Lee – Auckland teacher – will present the findings of her research on transience (children frequently changing schools) and its links to poverty

• Janfrie Wakim – Child Poverty Action Group – family income levels and poverty, the impact of NCEA fees etc

11.15 “Airbrushing Educational Research to suit Other Agendas” –

John O’Neill – Massey University College of Education

11.45 Tea Coffee
