Job Search Prepares For Record Student Numbers

Student Job Search Prepares For Record Student Numbers Over Summer

Student Job Search (SJS) has been charged with finding jobs for twice as many students than in previous years.

The increasing financial pressures on students and the current tertiary environment has created a situation where students are now, more than ever, needing the help of organisations such as Student Job Search.

“Work experience and the need to pay off student debt are the two greatest factors in the massive increase we are seeing in students using our free service,” says Regional manager, Lupe Leota.

It is clear that with the extraordinary increase in students that require placement, support from the community and local businesses is crucial.

With targets for skilled jobs up from 220 to 480, Leota explains that “[Businesses] benefit from employing students in a number of ways. Every task from unskilled labouring to more complicated work requiring tertiary qualifications can be catered for as students are keen to learn, available at short notice and have fresh ideas and a youthful perspective.”

Increasingly businesses have small projects that may take 4-6 weeks. To dedicate a full time employee to that project may prove too costly and detract from urgent work already existing. SJS has successfully placed more experienced students in these roles with the company receiving quality work and the student receiving work experience.

Student Job Search understands that HR responsibilities can require substantial amount of time and effort. Therefore, SJS will screen candidates for skilled jobs to provide the most suitable candidates for interview.

Student job Search is a free service for students and employers.
