Auckland Zoo April School Holiday Programme

MEDIA RELEASE
1 April 2005

Calling All Eco-Warriors!
Auckland Zoo April School Holiday Programme
Saturday 16 April – Sunday 1 May

Kids can have fun and learn how to save Planet Earth at the same time at Auckland Zoo these April school holidays.

The Zoo is offering a daily programme of activities, centred around the theme of conserving and protecting the environment.

An entertaining and interactive children’s theatre show will play every day at 11.30am and 1pm, from Saturday 16 April to Sunday 1 May, in the band rotunda area. There will be fun games and great spot prizes during the shows, which focus on themes such as recycling, pollution, energy and water conservation, and the rainforest.

As well as daily shows, there will be an activity trail around the Zoo. Every child who completes their mission will receive an Eco-Ani bookmark from the Auckland Regional Council, and a yummy treat. They will also go into a daily draw to win a prize pack including a Two Brothers DVD, two cute tiger toys, and a Holdson’s windchime or kite construction set.

Watch out for special guests, including Eco-Ani, and special activities on International Earth Day, Friday 22 April. This year, Earth Day celebrates its 35th anniversary, and its organisers are urging people around the world to champion the theme of ‘Protecting Our Children and Our Future’, to ensure that children everywhere are healthy, educated, and free from oppression.

The school holiday programme is sponsored by Newstalk ZB, with support from the Auckland Regional Council, and Holdson.
