Media Release: Design students showcase new works
With support from Enterprise North Shore and others, Concept 06 is proving an important opportunity for young designers to showcase their latest works. Combining the design interests of a broad range of design students from Massey University's School of Design, this year's showcase concludes with Private Viewing, an exhibition held over 23 - 25 June at the Old Alinghi Base, Viaduct Harbour. The focus is on creating industry and public awareness of new work being generated in New Zealand. It follows on from a presentation of New Zealand works by design students at the Milan Furniture Fair 2006 earlier in the year.
Enterprise North Shore is supporting Private Viewing as a part of its commitment to supporting North Shore business innovation, says the economic development agency's Manager Communication & Business Development, Gerard Martin.
"Innovative design and the development of new intellectual property opportunities is where new young business people could see their efforts best rewarded," explains Mr Martin. "North Shore is fortunate to have a Design School on its door step. We're even more fortunate that the current crop of students are proactive and focused on making the most of their own opportunities to reach out and show people the skills they are developing."
