Travel and Tourism Industry Expo at The International Travel College
The annual ITC Industry Expo is a great opportunity for students to meet with representatives from New Zealands’ travel and tourism industry and this year’s Expo was the best one yet!
For one day each year, the college is transformed into an Expo site and companies representing all sectors of the travel and tourism industry are invited to showcase their product to ITC students.
Students have the opportunity to hear first hand product information from current industry professionals. Presenters at this year’s expo covered all sectors of the industry from travel agencies to airlines, from 5 star hotels to adrenalin activity operators.
“We pride ourselves on making sure we maintain that vital link between industry and our students. It really is a win-win situation, giving industry the opportunity to promote their products to over 300 potential clients and our students the opportunity to learn more about the amazing career paths they can take,” said Peter Ashford, ITC Careers Advisor and Expo Organiser.
“For students to see how passionate these people are about the industry is a huge motivator for them,” said Michelle Chatfield, Schools and Recruitment Manager.
Presenters this year included Air New Zealand, Langham Hotel, Travelplan, Vertigo, Magic Travellers Network, Strategy Recruitment, House of Travel, Tourismflair, Auckland Central Backpackers and International Exchange Programs. The Industry feedback praised our students’ enthusiasm, presentation and professionalism.
Our students thoroughly enjoyed the day too. “The day was very valuable in helping me to decide where I want to work in the industry. It was so interesting and very inspiring” said Megan. “It has opened my eyes more to my options and it has given me ideas of where I want to be in the future” said Jema. “What a fantastic day! To hear about the careers options is great, I think we should have them all the time!” said Liam.
