Open Polytechnic publishes new edition of Information Management book
A unique book that looks at the future direction for information services in New Zealand in the digital age, how the Treaty of Waitangi is being incorporated into our libraries, and what education providers and professional associations can offer today’s information management professionals has recently been published by The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand.
Edited by Alison Fields and Rebecca Young, Informing New Zealand: Libraries, Archives and Records Hei Puna Whakamōhio mō Aotearoa: Whare Pukapuka, Pūranga Kōrero, Whare Taonga is now in its fifth edition.
The book has been substantially revised for this latest edition. Giving a comprehensive overview of information management in New Zealand today, the publication serves not only as a key reference book for current information professionals, but also as a textbook for those about to enter the field such as information and library studies students.
The book informs on the historical background and current practice of librarianship and information management in New Zealand, and contains thought-provoking discussion of future issues and prospects.
This revised and expanded 5th edition has chapters contributed by senior information management professionals such as John Redmayne.
It heralds new chapters on wānanga libraries and records management, and increased coverage of professional associations.
