Congratulations Minister

PPTA wishes education minister Steve Maharey the very best in his new role as Massey University vice chancellor and hopes his replacement will be committed to improving school funding and providing the staffing needed for personalised learning, PPTA president Robin Duff said today.

“While we haven’t always seen eye to eye on some education matters, such as the need for smaller class sizes, we have appreciated the Minister’s dedication to improving public education.

“We expect the new Minister will be equally committed to ensuring all New Zealanders have access to a high quality education system.

“Parents and teachers believe that reducing class sizes, cutting back on administration and compliance, and helping schools deal with difficult student behaviour are crucial for us to enhance the public education system.
