Strong Showing by NZ Universities
The world’s most comprehensive international university rankings, the THES-QS World University Rankings 2007, show a strong performance by New Zealand’s universities, competing with the world’s best.
The THES-QS World University Rankings, available from Friday 9 November 2007 at www.topuniversities.com show six New Zealand schools now populate the World’s Top 400 Universities, an increase from four last year. One, the University of Auckland, cemented its place in the world’s Top 50 ranking:

Nunzio Quacquarelli, Managing Director of QS, the careers and education experts who co-authored the report, says: “The results are recognition of the quality of education that NZ Universities offer. New Zealand is putting itself forward and students are taking a closer look at them for the quality of the faculty, international diversity and, of course, to the education they will receive there.”
The THES-QS World University Rankings, including detailed profiles of the Top 200 universities, is available from Friday 9 November on www.topuniversities.com.
The Top 400 school profiles are available on Monday 12 November.

Developments in the methodology in 2007 compared to 2006, influence the reduced performance of some single faculty universities and universities which place less emphasis on the Sciences. In particular, Z-scores have been applied to all the criteria to reduce outliers.
