NZEI Welcomes Resolution Of Dunedin Early Childhood Teachers Dispute
NZEI has welcomed the resolution of a dispute between more than 50 early childhood teachers working for the Dunedin Community Childcare Association and their employer.
The teachers were poised to take strike action this week after the Association refused to remain a party to their collective agreement. However, talks yesterday resolved the differences and the Association has agreed to remain in the Early Childhood Education Collective Agreement.
NZEI field officer Lee Rowe said NZEI members were very pleased that the dispute was resolved. The Association’s decision to remain in the collective agreement showed how strongly both employers and teachers in the early childhood sector were committed to pay parity and to fair and professional conditions for teachers.
