NZ Governance Centre conference 15 & 16 August

New Zealand Governance Centre Conference - for media event listings and coverage

Date: Friday 15 August and Saturday 16 August 2008
Venue: The University of Auckland Business School, Owen G Glenn Building,12 Grafton Road, Auckland

The conference is being organised by the New Zealand Governance Centre, a research centre at The University of Auckland Business School, and is supported by the Legal Research Foundation.

The conference will provide an opportunity to hear experts from the US, UK and Australia, as well as local experts focusing on New Zealand issues.

Topics will range from corporate governance in the securities markets and the structure of boards, through to dealing with serious fraud, governance in family businesses, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, Maori governance, and the governance of Auckland.

Speakers include: Professor Thomas Clarke, Director of the Key University Research Centre for Corporate Governance Research, Professor Douglas Branson of the University of Pittsburgh, Grant Liddell, Director of the Serious Fraud Office, Jane Diplock, Chair of the New Zealand Securities Commission, the Hon. Justice Grant Hammond of the Court of Appeal, and the Hon. Dr Bruce McPherson QC, formerly a Judge of the Queensland Court of Appeal. Joint Directors of the New Zealand Governance Centre, Professor David Emanuel and Professor John Farrar, will also speak at the conference.

The New Zealand Governance Centre was formed by The University of Auckland Business School in May 2008 to promote research in the regulation and governance of business.
