Beginning on the 4th January 2009, the famous UCOL Whanganui Summer School of the Arts will kick off again, providing people from around NZ and abroad with the opportunity to participate in a week of intensive workshops, taught by leading national and international artists in a vibrant and friendly atmosphere of creative production and interaction.

This time around the Summer School will have 19, 7 day courses on offer, covering the full range of visual arts including painting, printmaking, photography, drawing, sculpture, wearable arts, textile art, glass and jewellery. Also on offer are courses in Creative Writing, Culinary Arts and Music. There really is something for everyone , and you need not be experienced – just keen!

Among the artists who will be tutoring a course this year will be well-known sculptor and painter Donna Demente, renown oil painter Michael Shepherd, internationally recognised Harmonica player (back by popular demand) Brendan Power, top NZ glass blower Garry Nash, and pastry chef extraordinaire Richard Hingston (just to name a few!).

The Summer School provides a dynamic learning experience with tutors selected not only for their special knowledge, but also for their ability and their desire to share that expertise with others. The Summer School promises to be a stimulating environment where you will be able to totally immerse yourself in the creative process.
