UCOL Trades Workshops Open to All
UCOL will open its
trades workshops to the public this Thursday (29
January).
UCOL is holding a Trades Open Day from 11am to
2pm, featuring nine different trade programmes.
The programmes on offer are: Carpentry, Automotive, Panel and Paint, Motorsport, Mechanical Engineering, Electrotechnology and Furniture Design and Making.
The open day includes demonstrations and displays, tours of the workshops and facilities, displays from the Certificate in Motorsport programme, a barbecue and refreshments, and a chance for visitors to talk with the experts – the UCOL lecturers.
Also featured will be the famous UCOL two-way car, which recently featured on TV1’s Breakfast show. The car, made by UCOL Panel and Paint students is a working combination of two Ford Lasers, which can be driven from either front end.
Head of the School of Trades and Technology, Marius Dryfhout says “Everyone is invited to come down, have a look, and chat to us. There’s a lot to see, and for anyone who wants to know what we offer in the trades fields it will be an interesting day.”
