Food and Fear Factors
New and returning UCOL students face a week of ‘Fear Factor’ on their return to campus next week.
Orientation Week 2009, organised by the Association of Students at UCOL (AS@U) and UCOL, will give students the opportunity to test their limits with a Fear Factor theme.
Activities include a free en masse cooked breakfast, human fuzzballs, a clubs day, live music, barbecues, abseiling down the three levels of the Atrium, a pub crawl, and more Fear Factor challenges every day.
AS@U Student President, Jo Hymers, says “We want to have a bit of fun and test people’s limits. I can’t give too much away, but there will be challenges involving food and gross stuff. Our new Events Coordinator Sarah Ashford has done an amazing job.”
Jo says: “Orientation is an awesome way to kick off the year, and a really good way to meet new people and let off some steam. O-week is always really popular with our students and the public, and highly anticipated. This is the biggest week of our year! ”
The UCOL class of ’09 can also look forward to relaxing and studying in the new renovated Atrium, now called the Learning Hub. It brings together many of UCOL’s student support services, provides a comfortable lounge area, more than 60 computer stations, wireless access for laptops for students’ use and barista coffee for staff and students.
