UCOL Learning Centre to open Saturdays
UCOL Learning Centre to open Saturdays
UCOL
has announced the opening hours for its new Learning Centre
in Carterton – including Saturday morning for the
convenience of local students.
The Learning Centre opens in the town next week as a trial, to provide support for students enrolled on UCOL’s on line and distance programmes, and to students who live in Carterton and further south and study at UCOL Wairarapa’s Masterton campus.
A further valuable service to be offered at the UCOL Learning Centre will be Community Computing: The centre will have eight computers for the use of students enrolled on UCOL programmes. A facilitator will also be available to help people who need to improve their computing skills, perhaps before seeking employment or deciding on further study.
UCOL worked with the Carterton District Council to establish the centre, with the common goal of making education accessible in regional towns.
The centre opens next Wednesday 3 June in Holloway Street, Carterton. The hours of opening will be Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10 am to 3 pm. It will also open on Saturday from 9 am to 12 pm.
Campus Manager Angela Hewitt says the Saturday opening will be particularly helpful for students who work during the week and don’t have access to a computer at home.
