Wairarapa appointment to UCOL Council

Wairarapa appointment to UCOL Council

Wairarapa agribusiness consultant David Baker is now a member of the UCOL Council, as a ministerial appointment.

Chair Duncan Milne says the UCOL Council has a policy of trying to ensure its members are drawn from all areas of the communities UCOL serves.

“So it is pleasing that the Minister of Education has appointed David, with his extensive background from the Wairarapa,” Duncan says. “We are pleased to welcome him to the UCOL Council.”

David Baker has worked for 40 years as a farm management consultant and registered valuer based in the Wairarapa. He established agribusiness consultancy and valuation firm Baker & Associates in 1986 and is now a consultant to the firm.

He served for 21 years as a Director of Ravensdown Fertiliser, and was a Government-appointed Trustee for the establishment of the New Zealand Rural Trust. He is a past director of Palmerston North-based Fieldair Holdings and Waikato firm AEL, and serves on a number of district farm committees and trusts.

David is a Life Member of the New Zealand Institute of Primary Industry Management and a senior member of the Property Institute. He is a past president of the NZ Society of Farm Management, a member of the Primary Industry Consultants Registration Board and former member of the Wairarapa and Wellington Land Valuation Tribunal.

He is also a court sitting JP and past president of the Wairarapa Justice of the Peace Association.
