UCOL Motorsport on show at Te Papa

UCOL Motorsport students will have the chance to rub shoulders with the big boys of the motor sport industry when they participate in the Formula One Great Design Race exhibition being held at Te Papa.

Organisers of the five month long exhibition invited UCOL Motorsport to produce an interactive display at this weekend’s featured highlight, Working on Design.
“This is an awesome opportunity for UCOL to promote its Motorsport programme based in Feilding. It’s also a great opportunity for our students to see the technology in action and what they can aspire to,” says Motorsport programme lecturer Lance Funnell.

Each day of the weekend, two Motorsport students will man the UCOL stand. “And of course I have encouraged all our UCOL students to go down to Wellington to see the show,” says Lance.

The UCOL team will have car #4 on display – one of the four race cars that was built by last year’s UCOL Motorsport students.

Lance says visitors will have the chance to create their own pit stop by changing its wheels with an impact wrench, just like the professionals.
