Northec’s Future Trades facility hosts visit

NorthTec’s Future Trades facility hosts second schools visit

NorthTec’s Future Trades will host its second schools visit on 18 September.
The event follows on from the successful schools visit to Future Trades on 28 August which saw 45 secondary students from around the region participating in two trade workshops at the purpose-built facility.

Interest in the second schools visit to Future Trades has been high, with over 40 student places already spoken for.

Some of the seven schools who sent students to participate in the August workshops are again sending students.

Other schools, such as Dargaville High School, will be sending students for the first time.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in two small-group workshops in trade areas such as building, boat building, electrical and automotive engineering.

NorthTec’s Programme Manager – Engineering, Ian Swindells said that the students who attended the first schools visit to Future Trades had a fabulous day. “The overwhelming response was that they loved the facility and loved the course.”

NorthTec’s tutors also thoroughly enjoyed the day and are looking forward to the next schools visit on 18 September.

“In a couple of areas we ran courses that we hadn’t done before with students. We were delighted with what the students could achieve in the time available.
“Future Trades is one of the best facilities in New Zealand for trades training. We’re delighted to be training the region’s students in trades-related areas where there are ongoing job opportunities and great career prospects.”
