Ady Ngawati all set for international competitions

Media release: Ady Ngawati all set for international competitions this month

NorthTec Sport and Recreation tutor Ady Ngawati is heading off to compete at two international long distance running events this month.

This Sunday (subs 6 December) she will be sole female competitor selected by Athletics New Zealand to represent this country at the Xterra Off-Trail World Championships, a 21km race on off-trail terrain through the valley where the movie “Jurassic Park” was filmed.

On 12 December she will then compete in the gruelling 42km Honolulu marathon.

Ady competed in both off-trail national qualifying events in 2008/2009 and has won two Auckland Marathons. This year she also finished 8th in the Gold Coast Marathon Ocean Championships in Australia.

Whilst in Hawaii, Ady will also be undertaking professional development and will be setting up links with the Kinesiology and Exercise Science Programmes and Athletics Departments at the University of Hilo and the University of Manoa.

Northtec is proud to be one of Ady’s sponsors and wishes her all the best for both of her upcoming events.
