Tomorrow’s strike not a rest day – PPTA Manawatu-Wanganui

Tomorrow’s strike will not be a rest day for secondary teachers in Manawatu and Wanganui, says PPTA regional chair Rob Torr.

“Teachers will be on the streets making their presence felt in the cities and in the towns. We have thousands of pamphlets to deliver and 1000 teachers to deliver them. We have postcards to write to MPs,” he said.

"The public will see teachers in Horowhenua, Wanganui, Palmerston North and Tararua Districts".

Mr Torr said the campaign was about investment in our children’s education, making schools safe places for students and attracting qualified caring people into the teaching profession.

"This is a crucial battle to protect our schools from cost cutting initiatives that will ultimately damage".
