Find out about Nursing

Time may be running out for Wairarapa people who want to start their three-year journey to becoming qualified registered nurses by the end of 2013.

UCOL Wairarapa is holding an Information Evening for the 2011 intake into the Bachelor of Nursing programme.

The evening is for those who are considering enrolling on the programme as well as those who have already enrolled but want to know more.

Programme Coordinator Stephenie Orchard says there are still some available places on the programme – but not many. “We’re urging people who want to start the Nursing programme next year to come along and register their interest while places are still available.”

She says the evening is an opportunity to ask questions about the three year Bachelor of Nursing programme and the UCOL services available to support study. “We also welcome anyone considering nursing as a future career path, as well as families and friends.”

UCOL has been delivering nursing programmes for nearly 30 years. The programme has been offered in the Wairarapa since 2004. Nursing students at UCOL Wairarapa have maintained a 100 percent pass rate in the Nursing Council State Finals Examination over the past three years.

The Bachelor of Nursing programme includes 240 hours of clinical placement in the first year. Later in the programme these clinical experiences will include primary health care, medical and surgical, disability and mental health settings. The Information Evening will be held from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm on Thursday 28 October in Room L1 (top car park) at the UCOL Wairarapa campus.
