Christchurch schools exempt from PPTA action

Christchurch schools exempt from PPTA action following quake

After strong aftershocks affected Canterbury schools today PPTA has resolved to exempt the region from this week’s industrial action.

While at this stage the extent of any damage was unclear PPTA had received reports of schools being evacuated and damage to buildings, president Kate Gainsford said.

“We have decided on compassionate grounds to call off planned industrial action for this week,” she said.

This means that rostering home of year 9 students on Wednesday and year 11 students on Thursday will no longer go ahead this week.

PPTA has also set up a relief fund to help support members affected by the Canterbury quake.
