UCOL shows flair for hair

UCOL Wairarapa Hairdressing students get the chance to flaunt their creative talents on Friday night.

Twelve students completing the Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support) will compete in the inaugural Hair Flair competition completing a day and evening hairstyle.

“Hair Flair marks the completion of the programme and allows students to showcase their talents by creating a complete look which includes the model’s make up, clothing and hair style” says UCOL Hairdressing Lecturer Mel Daniel.

Well known local hairdressers and guest judges Christine Brewster and Terri Mulligan will judge the competition, paying particular attention to suitability to model, creativity, total look ( includes clothing, make-up), finish, and hair colour.

The winner of each category receives a straightening iron, gift pack and certificate. The second place getter receives a mini straightening iron, gift bag and certificate.

The participants all receive a certificate and gift pack and their models will receive a gift as a token of appreciation for the time they have given.

Hair Flair will be contested at the “It’s all about U Hair Salon”, A1 block at UCOL Wairarapa from 6 – 8pm on Friday (19 November).

Supporters and spectators are welcome.
