Apprentices hammer it out for regional honours
This Saturday at NorthTec’s Future Trades complex, the third annual Apprentice Challenge is to take place that would test even the most experienced of builders.
The contestants will be expected to master practical challenges that involve the construction of stairs, door-hanging and framing, and to strict specifications and time limits in what will be a real showcase of mastery and skill.
The event sponsored by NorthTec, the ITM Building Centre, Certified Builders, DeWalt, ITaB and CBANZ AST is not to be missed with the competition expected to be fierce. The Apprentice Challenge takes place from 8am to 5pm, so get out and show your support for those competing.
The apprentices taking part in the contest are employed by a Certified Builder and are part of the ITaB apprenticeship scheme, which can set up a range of career options across the industry.
The winner will receive an all expenses paid trip to Auckland to represent Northland at the Certified Builders National Conference between June 10 and 13.
