WelTec and Whitireia to take over Computer Power NZ Ltd
The Joint Council of Wellington Institute of Technology (WelTec) and Whitireia Community Polytechnic (Whitireia), through its wholly-owned subsidiary Whitireia NZ Ltd (WNZL), have agreed to a deal to take over all students and courses of Computer Power NZ Ltd, which is in liquidation.
“At seven meetings in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch last week we met hundreds of Computer Power students and staff” said Linda Sissons, Chief Executive of WelTec. “We were impressed by their loyalty and determination. It is our intention to make sure all enrolled students transfer their enrolments and complete their qualifications successfully.”
As a PTE, WNZL will deliver the resources of two institutions with very high reputations for their own IT teaching and graduates. Their programmes have a good fit with the suite offered by Computer Power Institute.
Computer Power Institute’s campus locations also fit those of WelTec and Whitireia, since both have campuses in Auckland and Wellington, and WelTec also has a campus in Christchurch.
“We look forward to doing all we can to assist the current students of Computer Power”, said Roger Sowry, Chair of the Combined Council. “We will also welcome new enrolments in these excellent qualifications with their uniquely student-centred delivery method. We believe we have a very attractive product and believe it has a wide market for Kiwis and International students.”
