Auckland teacher a leader in education

Auckland teacher a leader in education

The teachers, children and parents at an Auckland kindergarten are celebrating following the recent NEiTA Foundation’s 2012 National Excellence in Teaching and Leadership Awards Ceremony held at the Parliament’s Grand Hall on 3rd May.

Carol Hartley of Mangere Bridge Kindergarten, a member of the Auckland Kindergarten Association, is one of only eight recipients to receive a Cognition Education Excellence in Leadership Award, acknowledging the vital contribution that teachers make to the education and development of children.

Tanya Harvey, General Manager of the Auckland Kindergarten Association says “Every day, our teachers inspire children to be competent and confident individuals. We are so proud of Carol for the positive influence she has on children’s lives through her dedication, innovation and leadership. Carol is truly a leader in education not only at Mangere Bridge Kindergarten, but in the local community and now nationally.”

The NEiTA awards are jointly supported by ASG Education Programs New Zealand, which assists parents to plan for their children’s future education, and Cognition Education, a leading independent educational services company whose mission is to enhance lives through education.

The final phase of the awards process takes place in October when ten of these teachers and leaders will be presented with national awards and professional development grants.

With 107 kindergartens, four all-day early learning centres, and up to 12,000 children attending every year, the Auckland Kindergarten Association is today New Zealand’s largest education provider outside of tertiary institutions.
