Education Sector unites to fight increased class sizes

Education Sector joins together to fight against increased class sizes

Education sector leadership groups are meeting on Tuesday to co-ordinate action following the Government’s refusal to reconsider its decision to increase class sizes.

The outrage has been building throughout the education sector at the decision to cut frontline teaching staff despite the election promise that this would not happen.

Principals, teachers and parents are incredulous that despite the concerns about the effect of increased class sizes on the quality of our public education system, the Government has not withdrawn its flawed policy.

As a group we ask that the Government listen to teachers and parents and to genuinely engage to reverse its Budget decisions.

The Education sector organisations taking part in this action are:

NZEI Te Riu Roa

NZAIMS – NZ Assocation of Intermediate and Middle Schooling

NZSTA – NZ School Trustees Association

PPTA - Post Primary Teachers Association

NZPF - New Zealand Principals’ Federation

SPANZ - Secondary Principals’ Association of NZ

PPTA Secondary Principals Council
