UCOL Photography students take Alternatives
Two second year Whanganui UCOL Fine Arts students took the top award from the Alternatives Relocated 2012 Exhibition in Whanganui.
The exhibition included works by artists and photographers from Japan, the United States and New Zealand, including students and faculty from the Quay School of the Arts and Whanganui UCOL’s Graphic Design School.
Second year students Sue Wall and Caitlyn Mackley jointly won the prize, a Gordon Harris art shop gift certificate, for the Overall Body of Second Year Work. Quentin Lind won the award for the Overall Body of Year One Work.
The biennial photographic exhibition sponsored, by the Quay School of Art Whanganui UCOL, ended with the award ceremony for merit in photographic media on Saturday 27 October at the Quay School’s Edith Gallery on Taupo Quay.
A wide range of photographic explorations were represented in the exhibition, including pinhole camera images, plastic Holga cameras pictures and a sampling of various antique processes such as VanDyke Brown and Cyanotype. Also on display was a range of contemporary digital images.
