New Appointment to Wintec Council
Pam Roa has been appointed to the Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec) council by the Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment, Minister Steven Joyce.
Ms Roa is co-founder of several businesses and holds a number of directorships within the Waikato.
Ms Roa fills the vacancy left by previous member Gordon Chesterman, who completed three terms with the Wintec Council, in April last year. Mr Joyce formally thanked Mr Chesterman for his “excellent contribution” to the council in his statement on tertiary council appointments earlier this month.
“I’m looking forward to my role on the Wintec Council. This is an important New Zealand organisation with a big part to play in our region’s reputation for excellence. I am delighted to have an opportunity to contribute to Wintec’s future direction,” says Ms Roa.
Wintec Council Chair Mary Cave-Palmer says: “We are very pleased with the appointment of Pam Roa to our Council. She has governance experience, business acumen, and regional industry knowledge.”
Other Council updates include current member Steve Tucker appointed as deputy chair with a reappointment until April next year; with Maxine Moana-Tuwhangai reappointed until 2017.
Meanwhile, Council member Dianne Yates will complete her
term at the end of this month. Ms Yates was appointed to
the Council in 2008.
“I’d like to thank Dianne Yates
for her excellent contribution to the Council over the past
five years. She has been a valued member of a governing
council that has a well-earned reputation for being forward
thinking and diligent,” says Ms Cave-Palmer.
Ms
Yates’ will attend her final Wintec Council meeting on 23
April.
