UCOL Cookery Students Ready For More Hot Competition
UCOL Wairarapa Cookery students are on the road again to prove their culinary caliber.
Fresh from first time competition success in Hawkes Bay’s Salon Culinaire, the group will represent UCOL Wairarapa in several trainee and Open competition classes at the Wellington Culinary Fare this weekend.
UCOL Cookery lecturer Damian Peeti says the students are keen to add to their impressive record of six medals and two merits in their first ever competition earlier this month.
Both Dominique Waimotu and Joseph
Parata will compete in the Open Beef Main, Matt Lett will
prepare Chicken Brunch, Casey Watson (Soup Trainee Class).
Dominique and Casey are also entered in ‘static’ or cold
dish categories. Dominique will present an Open Dreamy
Gateau, and Casey, an Open Childs Decorated Birthday Cake
for judging.
A team of six students from UCOL’s
Palmerston North based Professional Cookery and Baking and
Pastry programmes will also take part as individuals in the
annual Culinary Fare that runs in conjunction with the
Wellington Food
Show.
