The Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Awards programme recognises young women for their demonstrated leadership skills and commitment to public service and civic causes and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political causes. Zonta International believes young women with these qualities are the key to women’s advancement in the field of public service. In previous years, Mana and Wellington Zonta winners have gone on to win at national and international level. Over the last five years, two Wellington recipients were accepted for international nominations. This scholarship is an excellent addition to a CV.
Bronwyn Kropp, a current Porirua City Councilor was a recent recipient of the YWPA award. Bronwyn says, “The YWPA scholarship gave me confidence to reach my goals. It is critical we, as young women, have a say in the decisions that will shape our lives. YWPA is special because it comes from an international organisation with a great reputation.”
