Otago Polytechnic inaugural Alumni celebration and Awards Night

Nineteen Otago Polytechnic Alumni who have made outstanding contributions in their careers or communities will be presented with an Otago Polytechnic Distinguished Alumni Award at the inaugural Alumni awards ceremony this Friday, 8 April at 5.30pm in The Hub.

“The Distinguished Alumni awards are very significant, not only for acknowledging the impact these former students have had in their careers and communities, but also for the inspiration these outstanding alumni will give graduates for years to come. Such inspiration can only come if their stories are told and publicly acknowledged,” says Otago Polytechnic Chief Executive Phil Ker.

“We are delighted to launch the Distinguished Alumni awards in Otago Polytechnic’s 50th Anniversary and to welcome past students and staff back to our campus to help us celebrate our achievements,” says Mr Ker.

More than a 150 Alumni are expected to attend the event. Guest speaker for the evening will be New Zealand test cricket player and living legend Grant Elliott who graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Management (Strategic Management) in 2015.

Otago Polytechnic CE Phil Ker will be presenting the awards with Director of Communications Mike Waddell compering the event.

“Otago Polytechnic has always fostered community development so it is wonderful to formally acknowledge those that have made a significant contribution within the community they serve and to know Otago Polytechnic has played a part in their lives,” says Mr Waddell.
