Schools To Apply For Funding Toward STEM Subject Learning
Applications open now for schools to fuel STEM subject learning
• Kiwi schools have until 30 September, 2016 to apply for a portion of $100,000
• Caltex raised $100,000 throughout the month of August
• Last year 27 schools received well deserved funding
7 September, Auckland, NZ – Caltex and the Royal Society of New Zealand call on all primary, intermediate, secondary, area and Kohanga Reo schools throughout New Zealand to apply for grants of up to $5,000 to help their students’ learning journey in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects.
During the month of August, Caltex raised $100,000 by donating 25c to the Fuel Your School fund every time a customer redeemed their AA Smartfuel savings at Caltex service stations nationwide.
In 2015, Caltex received over 200 applications and 27 well-deserving schools received a portion of the funds. This money was put towards new microscopes, a collaborative Mechatronics Academy, engineering projects and more.
Jeremy Clarke of Caltex says STEM is an area of education that Caltex feels particularly passionate about and is excited to receive applications and find out what Kiwi kids and their schools need to improve STEM learning.
“It’s something we’re proud to get behind as the subjects help our young people explore disciplines that can lead to great inventions and discoveries. Caltex is always seeking unique ways to support Kiwi communities, and we’re looking forward to seeing what STEM-based activities schools are wanting to pursue with the Fuel Your School grants.”
Caltex is again working with the Royal Society of New Zealand who will encourage schools to apply and to assist with the selection of successful schools to be awarded a share of the funds, ensuring the initiative provides Kiwi kids with long-term educational benefits.
The application process has been simplified with schools only needing to answer three questions to apply. Schools are encouraged to apply here: http://www.fuelyourschool.nz/apply.html
