Kiwi students selected for YES Business Leaders Trip to Brisbane
Seven New Zealand secondary students have been selected for the YES Business Leaders Trip to Brisbane in early August.
Thanks to the generosity of South British Capital, Young Enterprise NZ is sending seven secondary students to Brisbane from Saturday 4 – Wednesday 8 August 2018, on a business leaders trip.
The students will partake in a leadership workshop (run by Future Leaders Academy), make site visits to established companies and start-ups, meet with local business leaders, and hear a lecture from a leadership expert at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). The students will also partner with local students to undertake a Business Leadership Challenge.
The seven lucky students are:
Auckland Auckland Grammar
School Daniel Hu
Christchurch Rang Ruru Girls’
School Lucy Johnson
Christchurch Papanui High
School Kamla Phal
Manawatu Waiopehu College Liam
McLeavey
Taranaki New Plymouth Girls’ High
School Jascia Renau
Northland Keri Keri High
School Alexandra Edwards
Otago Otago Boys’ High
School Alen Yeritsyan
For the Business Leadership
Challenge, the students will be put into teams, issued with
a challenge and tasked with creating a solution that
requires innovative thinking to produce a solution using the
leadership techniques they have been introduced to during
the trip. They will then present their work to a panel of
invited judges. The students are seven of 3800+
participating in The Lion Foundation Young Enterprise
Scheme, a yearlong programme where high school students form
their own business and product or service and operate with
real profit and loss.
Through this experience the students will develop their team work, leadership and business skills through engaging in a joint project. Furthermore, the students will take their experience back to their schools and communities, expanding awareness of the career opportunities open to them, and inspiring them to be the next generation of young leaders.
