High NZTC completion rates reinforce college’s commitment to students
New Zealand Tertiary College (NZTC) qualification completion rates exceed the national university and Tertiary Education Organisation (TEO) average with 73% of NZTC students completing their qualification.
This is according to the recently released Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) Educational Performance Indicator (EPI) 2017 results, which put average qualification completion rates of all TEOs at 63% and universities at 64%.
NZTC Chief Executive Selena Fox said the qualification completion rates spoke to the outstanding commitment of our students to their study and the college’s extensive support systems, serving the early childhood sector with relevant programs based on leading research.
“Our high qualification completion rates are a combined reflection of our outstanding students, their commitment to the education and care sectors, and to the variety of NZTC flexible support woven around the programs of study. Alongside our academic teams, student support includes expertise in areas of pastoral support, IT help, student liaison and korero talanoa evenings to name just a few,” said Fox.
“With 100% of our students studying through our bespoke online learning platform, our completion rates illustrate that all of our teams really do go that extra mile to ensure each and every one of our students is engaged in a community of learning with the support they need to succeed available in a variety of forms.”
The EPI results came on the back of the college being awarded its third consecutive New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) Category One status.
In the October 2018 NZQA report, NZTC was declared an “exceptional” education provider with NZQA stating they are “Highly Confident” in educational performance and “Highly Confident” in self-assessment.
“Qualification completion rates are the result of an education provider’s ability to deliver at every stage of the student journey. Our EPI results are further evidence that our NZTC Team is committed to living, breathing and achieving our mission to empower students to care, educate and serve meaningfully and effectively by providing comprehensive and professional programs,” Fox said.
