Green Policy Student Focused
The Aotearoa Post-compulsory Student Union has applauded the intentions shown by Rod Donald and the Green Party with the release of their Tertiary Education Policy today.
"The Green Party has given the message loud and clear that they are unhappy with the treatment students are receiving under the current draconian laws," said President John Barkess. "they have joined a growing number of groups that have indicated a move towards an affordable education system."
"Obviously any coalition that included the Green Party would need to urgently focus on the plight of students," said Barkess.
"If New Zealand is to get ahead in the new millennium we must have a well educated, internationally competitive workforce. You cannot achieve this by placing a burden around the necks of our youth. We - as a nation - must take very seriously the situation National and their cohorts have created. Our young talented people are fleeing the country and we must encourage them back"
