No problems with patches and gum, says the Quitline

The National Quitline is assuring smokers that there are no problems with supplies of the subsidised nicotine patches and gum which it issues to callers who are eligible.

“We are continuing to supply nicotine patches and gum to smokers,” said National Quitline Manager Jane Mills.

“Some callers to the Quitline have been concerned by recent publicity about the supply of patches and gum, however we can assure them that no changes to supply are planned this year.

“We are very pleased with the large and continuing volume of calls to the Quitline since subisidised patches and gum were introduced last November, which shows just how many New Zealanders would like to give up smoking,” she said.

The Quitline provides free, confidential advice to callers who want to quit smoking. Those who are eligible are also offered subsidised nicotine patches and gum to help them quit. The National Quitline phone number is 0800 778 778.
