Treatment Works Week 24 to 28 June, 2002
(A
national alcohol and drug awareness week)
“Drug
problems exist and there are organisations to help” is the
key message that key groups involved with addressing drug
dependency in our community are focusing during the week
called Treatment Works.
Treatment Works Week highlights the work in prevention and treatment activities for people and communities affected by drug abuse and misuse including alcohol, tobacco, prescription and other drugs.
A spokesperson for the week Paul Traynor says, “There are organisations all over New Zealand who are preparing to celebrate this week. This is an effort to highlight the value and contribution that alcohol and other treatment services and allied professionals make to our communities.”
“There are a range of activities that can be accessed via local alcohol and other drug services or the Alcohol Drug Association’s web-site www.adanz.org.nz just click on Treatment Works,” says Paul.
The week will be
launched by Hon Tariana Turia MP Associate Minister of
Health 12 noon Monday 24 June at Beehive Foyer Parliament
Buildings
Wellington.
