Nurses and Midwives To Attend Report Back Meetings
South Island Nurses and Midwives To Attend Report Back Meetings
Nurses, midwives and health care assistants covered by the Multi-Employer Collective Agreement (MECA) which includes five South Island DHBs will now attend report back meetings, said Glenda Alexander, New Zealand Nurses Organisation advocate today.
"After five days of negotiation and two days mediation between the Nurses Organisation and DHB employers a proposal has been reached that the NZNO team has agreed to present to NZNO members," said Glenda Alexander.
"While the proposal does not quite reach all the goals that we set round closing the national pay gap inside the shortest term, the proposal has some merit and is worth the consideration of our members."
Stop work meetings commence today and will be held in Southland, Queenstown, Dunedin, Timaru, West Coast and Nelson Marlborough this week.
Glenda Alexander said that
members would be making decisions at the meetings and that
the outcome of the meetings will not be known until Friday 5
September.
