Shoppers raise $148,000 for Plunket

Shoppers raise $148,000 for Plunket

Shoppers in 95 Foodtown and Woolworths supermarkets nationwide have raised $148,414 as part of the annual Plunket Appeal by adding a dollar to their weekly grocery bills.

All the funds raised go to Plunket to assist the Society's support services such as volunteer and parenting education, Karitane Family Centre and Plunket Clinic maintenance and its four mobile clinics.

Progressive Enterprises Ltd managing director Ted van Arkel thanked the supermarket customers for their generosity.

"Plunket is a great cause and these donations will make a huge difference to an organisation that, like our community-based businesses, touches so many New Zealand families.

"Plunket is a fundamental part of New Zealand family life," Mr van Arkel says. "The Society has been raising New Zealanders for almost a century and we are proud to be a partner of this cornerstone of Kiwi life.

The general manager marketing & communications of the Plunket Society Mr Craig Pollock says the Foodtown and Woolworths relationship has been invaluable to the organisation.

"I feel humble in the thought that so many New Zealander supermarket shoppers value our services so much they have contributed to the cause.

"We really appreciate the support from the local community and want to thank people who gave for their generosity."
