PHARMAC welcomes new Board appointment

PHARMAC Board chairman Richard Waddel has welcomed the appointment of Tauranga management consultant Adrienne von Tunzelmann to the Board of the Government drug-funding agency.

Appointed by Minister of Health Annette King, Adrienne von Tunzelmann replaces Liz Coutts, who did not seek reappointment when her three-year term expired earlier this year.

Adrienne von Tunzelmann has had a diverse public sector career that has included executive positions in central government, including lead roles in the Department of Justice, The Treasury and Office of the Clerk of the House of Representatives.

She has spent the last eight years in the private sector, consulting, advising on a wide range of governance, strategy and public policy issues primarily for central and local government. She has also held governance roles in the not-for-profit sector, including as Chair of the NZ Women’s Refuge Foundation.. She is involved in a number of professional associations and institutes and is incoming President of the Tauranga Region Chamber of Commerce

She is currently a Principal at McKinlay Douglas Ltd, specialist advisers in public policy and governance, in Tauranga.

“Adrienne von Tunzelmann’s broad experience in both the public and private sector will bring a valuable perspective to the PHARMAC Board,” Richard Waddel says.

“She brings an outstanding background and knowledge of the public policy environment and governance principles, and I look forward to her contributions to the Board’s deliberations.

“Her economic and analytical background will be invaluable to the Board when considering funding decisions.”

Adrienne von Tunzelmann has been appointed to the PHARMAC Board for a three-year period.
