Food Services Tender Announced

Food Services Tender Announced

The tender to supply food services to the CDHB’s metropolitan Christchurch hospitals has been awarded to Eurest New Zealand. Making the announcement, the General Manager of Hospitals & Specialist Services Jock Muir said the contract would be effective from 1 July. The current food services supplier is Spotless Services Limited.

‘We have been through an extensive consultation process with staff and union representatives which began in May 2002,’ he said. ‘CDHB staff affected by the change of supplier will have their employment conditions protected in the transition to Eurest.’

Mr Muir said the models of food service delivery inherited from Canterbury Health and Healthlink South were inefficient in terms of multiple contracts, diverse purchasing methods, duplication of plant and equipment.

‘Eurest will provide a hybrid cook-chill system with a single cohesive service across the DHB that will enhance services to patients,’ he said.

‘We are satisfied that Eurest will provide us with a quality service that will meet our requirements.’

Mr Muir said the change to Eurest New Zealand would be cost neutral in the first five years and would save money in the longer term.
