Disappointed To See Dhb Chief Executive Resign

''We are disappointed to learn of the resignation of Nelson Marlborough District Health Board Chief Executive, Glenys Baldick,'' said Mr Ian Powell, Executive Director of the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists, today.

“Although we have had different views over some issues, throughout her lengthy time as chief executive she has always avoided the abrasive and aggressive managerial style that has often been practised in many other parts of the country.”

“As far back as 1992 she was prepared to negotiate a collective agreement with senior doctors when many other chief executives were refusing to negotiate and the government of the day was unhappy with.”

“Our experience has been that under her leadership Nelson Marlborough has had far less employment disputes than most other parts of the country.”

“There is much to be said for the stable conciliatory managerial style that she has provided,” concluded Mr Powell.
