Healthy New Role for NZ Nutrition Foundation
The New Zealand Nutrition Foundation is delighted to announce an important new appointment. Sue Pollard has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, commencing 17 January 2005.
Sue comes into the position with over thirty years experience in the health and nutrition fields. Beginning her career as a registered dietitian, Sue gained experience in many aspects of this profession, including clinical dietetics, food service management, teaching, diabetes education, health promotion and community nutrition. She is a Past President of the New Zealand Dietetic Association.
Sue then accepted her first role in health management and managed a variety of clinical and non-clinical services for public health services in the Auckland area through the ongoing health reforms and changes from 1987. Her last position was with Auckland District Health Board as the Manager Ambulatory Services, a position she held for two years.
She thus brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and a strong commitment to the Foundation’s mission. She will be working with the country’s top food companies, leading nutritionists, the Ministry of Health and Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC).
Sue Pollard comments: “This role is the culmination of all of the work I’ve done and the skills I have acquired in my career so far. I’m thrilled to be part of such a forward-thinking organisation at the forefront of nutrition issues globally and look forward also to renewing my contacts at a local level with the various nutrition and food sectors. There is a wonderful group of like-minded and highly skilled food and nutrition professionals involved in the Foundation, some of whom I’ve known for years, which makes this position all the more rewarding.”
Sue is looking forward to continue building the Foundation and her first project will be assisting with the International Food Information Council global meeting in Queenstown in February 2005.
Sue has a Master of Business Studies in management (Massey University), a Diploma in Health Service Management (Massey University) and a Diploma in Home Science (Otago University).
