Going Going Gone! Hop onto the net, get that mouse rolling and support a great cause as the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind (RNZFB) launches its 2005 online auction today. The seven-day online auction hosted by Trademe.co.nz showcases a unique selection of packages, items and experiences up for public bidding. Bigger and more exciting than 2004, this online fundraising experience aims to raise money for essential services for blind, deafblind and vision-impaired New Zealanders.

Jeanette Manson Divisional Manager of Fundraising at the RNZFB, says “We are really excited about the line up of items for auction. We are confident that people will be enthusiastic about showing their support for blind New Zealanders and receiving something unique in return.”

Most of the auction items have been generously donated by the New Zealand public and business organisations. The auction items range from six-months supply of toilet paper to morning tea with a mayor to air tickets to China with Singapore Airlines and a Website management and development package from Solutionist. The technologically advanced online auction was first held in 2004 and proved to be a great success. For 2005 exciting new concepts and packages have been sought ensuring bidders have great opportunities to support the Foundation.

The most exciting addition to the auction fundraising event this year is the live auction charity event on Tuesday May 17 at the Hilton Auckland. 300 lucky guests will gather from 6-9pm to enjoy live music, cocktails, gorgeously crafted canapés by award winning restaurant White and the exclusive opportunity to bid on a selection of unique and highly sought-after live auction items and packages.

All proceeds from the online and live auction event will help ensure the RNZFB continue to provide rehabilitation, resource and support services for blind, deafblind and vision-impaired New Zealanders.
