New health education resource facility opens

Health professionals, teachers and members of the public are now able to access a comprehensive selection of health education resources from a newly relocated custom-designed facility within Napier Health Centre.

Wendi Wolfen-Duvall, resource co-ordinator says “We have a huge selection of health education resources: pamphlets, posters, videos, fact sheets and stickers, featuring a wide range of health issues. Anyone wanting information on nutrition, smoking, sexual health, injury prevention, alcohol and drugs, parenting, in fact just about any health issue, is welcome to come in, and it’s all free.”

The service is also able to loan display equipment and resource kits and Wendi says “If we haven’t got it, we’ll endeavour to find it for you.”

The service is available to all Hawke’s Bay people. It is located on the ground floor of Napier Health Centre, opposite City Medical, and is open from 8.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday. The centre is now occupied and has already attracted interest from members of the public.

Says Chris Clarke, chief executive officer “Hawke's Bay now has one of the best health education resource rooms in the country. It holds a tremendous array of resources and Wendi has the knowledge, and dedication, to provide healthcare providers, educators and the general public with the most appropriate and up-to-date health education information available.”

The relocated resource room will be officially opened on Monday 16 May at 10 am.
