'Business of usual’ as strike notice withdrawn
19 May 2005:
Back to ‘business of usual’ as notice of MRT strike withdrawn
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board chief executive, Chris Clarke, said he was delighted the Medical Radiation Technologists (MRTs) withdrew their notice of strike action last night.
“It’s a huge relief, and I’m very pleased to report that it will be ‘business as usual’ at all our facilities in Wairoa, Napier, Hastings and Central Hawke’s Bay.
The strike was planned to take place from midday Monday 23 May and until midday Friday 27 May.
“I would like to publicly thank all those involved in contingency planning, including the offers of help and assistance from the wider health community in Hawke’s Bay. It was heartening to receive such support from a range of providers, all concerned about doing their best for Hawke’s Bay people.”
Mr Clarke said if anyone was unsure about their outpatient appointment or elective surgery scheduled for next week, they could phone the DHB’s elective services information line on 0800 452 342.
The 0800 number will be answered between 8:30am & 4:30pm. If the operator is busy, or it's outside business hours please leave a message and someone will return calls as soon as possible.
