Medical radiation technologists withdraw strike notice
The New Zealand Nurses Organisation has withdrawn its strike notice on behalf of medical radiation technologists at Counties Manukau District Health Board.
Organiser Mark Lennox said that significant progress had been made at mediation last week (including some pay increases and improvements to education leave and allowances) and, as a sign of good faith, NZNO had withdrawn the strike notice.
The new proposal was presented to members on May 19 and was ratified at that meeting. The new agreement expires at the end of June next year, just prior to significant increases coming into force for public sector nurses and midwives.
“We have told Counties Manukau DHB management that they must use the intervening time to address funding issues so they can address our members’ pay claims adequately in 2006. Our position is clear and unequivocal,” said Lennox.
