Country music lovers love to donate

Hawke’s Bay District Health Board’s Child Development Unit were delighted to be able to select a range of resources for use in the assessment and therapy intervention of children from birth to 16 years when Kidnappers Country Music, based in Flaxmere, offered to make a donation of close to $500 worth of children’s toys.

This small but dedicated group have raised nearly $24,000 in the six years they have been together, mostly through the annual country music festivals. The event has proved popular with country music fans all over the country and has meant shifting to a centralised location and a larger venue. Renamed the Central Country Music Festival the 2006 event will be held in Wilson Park, Marton over the weekend of 20-22 January 2006.

Coming up for the group is another fundraiser, the Veterans Award. To be held at the Hibernian Club in Hastings on 8 October 2005. This is an open event so you don’t need to belong to a club to enter, but you will need to be between the ages of 50-105 to compete.
